The renewables are the energy sources of the 21st century

Utilising renewable energy sources represents a completely different form of energy production and consumption compared to what we got used to during the last century. Contrary to the systems of few big, centralised power plants and huge gas pipe lines we should create a divers and decentralised system that rests upon local energy sources.
Renewable energy sources and technologies could be the most environment-friendly answers of today’s climate and energy challenges. This is the basis of the generation side of a new sustainable energy management. While renewable energy sources have a much less energy density than conventional ones, they emit much less greenhouse gases and at the same time they can give new perspectives to rural development and to communities without access the conventional supply systems.

Our aims

A calculable and reliable legal regulation is fundamental for the long term renewable energy utilisation

The main feature of the Hungarian renewable legislation today is its instability. Under these circumstances only less projects can be realised and only a small part of the huge renewable potential can be exploited. In order to change this situation we are working out proposals and studies in co-operation with experts and decision-makers and initiate modifications in the Hungarian legislation.

Renewable technologies at home

It is very important to raise the public demand for renewables, which can motivate decision-makers to work out special programmes and support schemes promoting clean technologies (e.g. solar collectors, heatpumps, …) at households. People need to get information about the technologies available for supplying the energy demand of their homes. Thus we organise awareness raising campaigns, appear regularly in the media, publish brochures and publications and develop educational materials.

Research activities

Renewable energy is a new topic in Hungary. We would still need loads of country specific background information to find the long-term sustainable solution and the balance between the optimal exploitation of the potentials and a sustainable environment. We carry out and co-ordinate research with experts. Our aim is to provide basic information for decision-makers which they can use for determining the directions of the future legislative work, support schemes and information policies.

Consensus building

Consensus is very important among the different actors of the renewable energy sector. Sometimes the main obstacle of development is disagreement among representatives of the respective technologies or different civil organisations. We regularly organise and initiate round-table discussions and develop common position papers on the hot topics of renewables.
