By today, it became apparent that securing energy supply indispensable for maintaining our modern societies is among the greatest challenges we face in the 21st century. The task is considerably complex as our responses need to accommodate three dimensions simultaneously. The gradual shift towards sustainable energy production solutions is a seeded challenge enhanced by climate change as well as our everyday well-being. During this provisional time period, we need to secure the availability of energy in the current structure. Finally, it is as much important to utilize the most efficient solutions, so that the society bears only reasonable magnitude of costs.
 
In Hungary, realizing these goals is dominantly our own responsibility. Considering the international leverage and circumstances of the country, in several fields results can only be achieved through cooperation with other countries, especially with the member states of the European Union. Accordingly, it is inevitable to analyze the challenges ahead from such an international perspective.
 
The task of the Energy Policy Division is to provide assistance to political and business decision makers, inform the general public as well as our international partners in the rapidly altering energy environment. The Division sets out to contribute to the founding of decision-making process with our own analyses, while our researches help in identifying the most important challenges as well as the best responses to them.
