Paks II could only operate with state aid

In November 2015 the European Commission opened an in-depth state aid investigation into Hungary's plans to provide financing for the construction of two new nuclear reactors in Paks. This gave interested third parties an opportunity to comment on the measure. Energiaklub has submitted its comments.

Hungarian authorities have not succeeded in proving that the project would work under market conditions, they have not addressed risk potentials properly, have not analysed impacts of Paks II on the internal market and have not examined possible alternative scenarios - this is the gist of the document, which Energiaklub sent to the European Commission within the framework of the investigation. The organization maintains its position about Paks II fulfilling all criteria of a state aid, which it explicated in its complaint already in June 2014.
