EC LINC - Energy Consultancy for Low Income Households

Research and energy consultancy pilot project in cooperation of  5 partner state: Austria, Denmark, Germany, Hungary and UK

Objectives of the project

  • Development and implementation of replicable energy consultation schemes tailored for low-income households to achieve significant and quantifiable savings of electric power, water and heating energy through low-or-no-cost-measures
  • Raising awareness for the rational use of energy in low-income households in direct consultation in their homes through immediate action and installation of small saving devices
  • Advice concerning costeffectiveness of highly efficient appliances and support schemes
  • Promotion of energy efficiency technology in private households
  • Guidance for low-income households to choose the most economical products in terms of energy efficiency at home
  • Re- integration of long-term unemployed or low-skilled people in the regular job market by qualifying them to advise households on saving electric power, water and heating energy
  • Bridging the gap between the EU policies for energy efficiency in private households and the special needs of low-income households

 

Activities and outcomes

  • Common training material and methodology
  • Holding of training courses for 40 energy advisors (8-10 in Hungary)
  • On-site consultations in 1600 low-income households (250 in Hungary)
  • Installation and promotion of new and innovative energy efficient technology
  • Dedicated advisory service for lowincome households in saving electric power, heating energy and water
  • Ongoing occupational and technical mentoring of the long-term unemployed people
  • Diffusion of the tested approaches on national (NEEAPs) and EU level, incl. materials for realising replication projects
